This project was especially dear to me. It is a calendar I created aimed specifically for blind children or children with impaired vision. Before I started working on it, I needed to try and understand the way they experience nature and the surroundings throughout the different seasons.
During my numerous visits and talks with the children, they explained that they “see” colors and the different seasons by focusing on the specific features of each season: spring is the soft yellow sun, the light green grass, the mild smell of blooming flowers, summer is the refreshing blue water, warm, golden brown sand and pink watermelon icicles, autumn is the crunchy orange leaves and tasty brown chestnuts; and winter is the soft white snow and calming red of the tree ornaments.
I incorporated their perspectives into a design that will help them experience time and nature better and with much more ease.
